Some of you might have noticed that I am bit of a Sandvik fan and that I am also occasionally working on documenting the various models Sandvik churned out. Well, living in neighboring Finland I have been surprised how few of the old Sandvik saws I have found and how little they seem to vary in tooth configuration. Most seem to be full width saws and almost every Sandvik hand saw I have seen has been filed crosscut at between 5 and 7 TPI. This one is not a big exception. It is a straightback Sandvik model no measuring 24 inches and filed at 6 TPI. This saw might not appear too appealing at first glance. But in fact this example is in near original condition. It has seen use as evidenced by the dullish teeth. But I think it has spent most if it’s existence hanging from a wall.

The early ones in the pressed floral era have “A1 blade” but the later ones have “Silver Steel blade” just as yours does Eric. The very early Atkins saws had wheat carved handles. I have a pocket catalog from around , if I remember correctly, illustrating that. Heck, at that point the premium had silver plated screws instead of nickel! Then for a period it went to the pressed floral pattern and then back to the wheat carved pattern sometime in the 40’s I’m guessing.

Sharon Tate was only 26 years old when she, along with her unborn child, three of her friends, and a stranger with bad timing were murdered. Manson, who had aspirations of becoming a musician, had previously attempted to get a record deal from producer Terry Melcher son of Doris Day , who had once rented the house along with musician Mark Lindsay and Melcher’s then-girlfriend, actress Candice Bergen. Manson allegedly instructed Tex Watson to take Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian, and Patricia Krenwinkel to “that house where Melcher used to live,” and to “totally destroy everyone in [it], as gruesome as you can,” according to Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders , an account written by the Manson trial’s prosecuting attorney Vincent Bugliosi.
What happened next, many say, changed the tide of Hollywood. The tension broke that day. The paranoia was fulfilled. According to Helter Skelter , shortly after midnight on August 9 Watson was first to enter the home. He encountered a sleeping Frykowski, and proceeded to kick him in the head. When Frykowski asked who he was and what he was doing there, Watson allegedly replied, “I’m the devil, and I’m here to do the devil’s business.
According to Bugliosi, when Sebring protested the rough treatment of pregnant Tate, Watson shot him. Helter Skelter says that Frykowski and Folger both fought against their captors to no avail—they were repeatedly stabbed 51 and 28 times, respectively. Reportedly, back in the house, Tate was pleading for her life and the life of her child.
She told the Manson clan of her wish to be allowed to live long enough to have her baby, and offered herself up as a hostage in exchange. I saw Katie stabbing her,” said Kasabian in the film.

Luckily for fans, filmmakers who grew up on those films have become filmmakers themselves, leading to him getting more roles recently, including My Bloody Valentine 3D , Drive Angry , and the upcoming Trick.
Not only did Atkins star in a number of compelling films over the course of his career, but he also collaborated with some of the biggest names in the genre. Toggle navigation Swingley Development. An antiquarian, my life has been devoted to gaining knowledge of humanity’s past works, and to preserving memory of those works against the ravages of cruel and unrelenting time. Yet, even as my own life is waning, I have come to believe that there are forgotten secrets beneath the brooding gambrel roofs and twisted streets of Providence which are best forgotten, for to remember them is to dredge up horrors spawned long before the race of men.
All my life I have followed the siren song of forbidden lore as far as I might, but now I hesitate at the brink — some would say beyond the brink — of knowledge which leads to a madness as cold and savage as the glare of ancient stars. It began innocently enough, with a trunk filled with papers salvaged from the premises of the P Tool Company, a family firm whose owners were distantly related to my own ancestors. Related, perhaps, but shunned, and whispered about even in my great-grandfather’s day.
My own branch of the family avoided the Marshes like plague, and my great-uncle Leonard swore to his dying day that Obed made his fortune not from the sale of carpenter’s tools but from other, less savory commercial arrangements made by the light of a full moon on the reefs off shadowed Innsmouth. These morbid thoughts were far from my mind, of course, as I began my examination of the papers, and at first they seemed pretty dull stuff.
This sale of a dozen plane irons to one DePeyser in New Orleans, or that of five chisels to Blake just over the way on Federal Hill, or some drawknives to the rustics in Arkham — none of this was interesting in the least, and indeed my eyelids began to grow heavy as I made my way through the moldering stack for the first time. But then stranger missives began to intrude.
